Based in Belfast and North Down, the Youth Engagement Service (YES) is funded by the Public Health Agency

Both projects offer a safe, social environment for young people aged 11-25 to explore, learn and develop their emotional well-being through the provision of an advice and signposting service on issues such as:

  • drug and alcohol use
  • low self-esteem
  • poor mental health
  • training and education
  • bullying

Work is based in schools, community settings and youth-focused centres, but both also operate on a drop-in basis during the week.

The projects assist young people with a variety of areas, including:

  • Mental & Emotional health - self-confidence, self-awareness, anxiety, self-harm, low mood, hidden harm & crisis support.
  • Wider personal & health issues - substance misuse, sexual health, healthy eating
  • Practical issues - training & employment, education & independent living skills
  • Social Welfare Support - housing, debt, money management, family support & parenting

How can I get in touch with you?

Do you help parents and carers too?

The Family Support Service works with families where there is a concern regarding parental behaviour.

  • Harm reduction programmes
  • Welfare support
  • Liaison with other agencies and professionals

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes. You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member with you.

Who you bring to the appointments is up to you. In some cases it may be appropriate for your family or carers to be involved. You will also have the opportunity to speak to staff on your own.

In confidence

Whatever you say to a member of staff will be confidential, unless they feel you or anyone else is in danger of being harmed.

If this happens, your worker will talk to you about who they need to tell and what details will be shared. Young people have been trusting us for years and we’ve never let them down.
